Amazon's new ai chip vs Nvidia ai chip

Information about Amazon

Amazon.com, Inc., is a multinational technology corporation based in the United States that specializes in e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It is commonly known as Amazon. Founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos in Bellevue, Washington, the company began as an online marketplace for books but gradually expanded its products to cover a wide range of product categories, dubbed "The Everything Store." Amazon is now one of the Big Five American technological corporations, alongside Apple, Meta, and Microsoft.

According to the media, amazon is toiling away at one of each tech industry's ambitious moonshots this has affected Nvidia and is losing grip on the $100-billion-plus market for (AI chips) Artificial intelligence chips. Amazon's utilitarian engineering lab features rows of long workbenches that overlook the Texas capital's sprawling suburbs. The place is a mess. Printed circuit boards, cooling fans, wires, and networking equipment are scattered around workstations in various stages of assembly, some smudged with thermal paste used to link chips to components that prevent them from overheating. There's a bootstrapping vibe you'd expect to see at a startup, not a firm with a market capitalization of more than $2 trillion. Rami Sinno is a Lebanese-born engineer who has been working in the chip industry for decades. He was involved in the making of first two generations of Amazon Ai semiconductors.

Information about Nvidia

The American multinational firm and technology company Nvidia firm was incorporated in Delaware and has its headquarters in Santa Clara, California. It is a software and fabless firm that creates and sells graphics processing units (GPUs), application programming interfaces (APIs) for data science and high-performance computing, and system-on-a-chip units (SoCs) for mobile computing and automotive applications. Nvidia is also a leading supplier of AI hardware and software.

Nvidia has been transformed from a niche chipmaker(A tech niche refers to a specific and specialized area within the broader field of technology)to the main supplier of hardware that enables ai and this thing has made the company the largest market value in the world. Cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Corp.'s Azure, and Alphabet Inc.'s Google Cloud Platform, which are among Nvidia's largest clients, are keen to lessen, if not completely replace, their dependency on Nvidia chips. All three are developing their silicon, but Amazon, the largest provider of rented computing power, has installed the most chips thus far.

In many respects, Amazon is well-positioned to become a leader in AI chips. The corporation invented the cloud computing business 15 years ago and then gradually began constructing the infrastructure that supports it. To reduce its reliance on one incumbent after another, including Intel Corp., Amazon removed several of its data centers' servers and network switches and replaced them with custom-built hardware.
